Does God Exist?

We'd love to know your thoughts and reactions. Please feel free to use the "Comments" button at the bottom of this post to give us your thoughts.

This week we started with a very basic question – does God exist?

We took some time to explore the world around us to see if we can learn more about God. The verse we looked at was Romans 1:20 which says, “From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature.”

As the group I was with took some time to look closely at the things around us, the details of creation really reveal the fact there must be a Creator. The latest title has been “Intelligent Design” which leads to the obvious - if there’s an intelligent design there must be an intelligent designer.

The last part of Romans 1:20 says this, “So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.” That’s a pretty strong statement, but the point is clear – creation does reveal a Creator. We call the Creator “God”.

As you go through your day take some time to slow down and look around and see how God is revealing who He is through His creation.

It makes sense.... personally, I find it much easier to believe in a Creator than to believe that this perfect and beautiful world came from nothing... if a mess could undo itself, than my house would look pretty awesome by now! :-)

Hey Dave,
Great points! Inteligenty design makes sense to me. I was taught to believe it as a child and now that I'm grown I can see why it just makes sense. Can't wait to see your next vlog.

Great point about the house getting "more organized". The truth is things become more chaotic naturally - not less chaotic.

I agree the "inteligent design" idea is very intuitive (it makes sense). However, I know that while some accept the idea as reasonable - they are not willing to connect it with God being the Designer.

I'd love to hear from someone who struggles making this connection. It would make for a great conversation and I'm sure I'd gain a new perspective. I may not agree, but I love understanding multiple viewpoints.

If we pay attention we see His acts as well.

I came across a man this morning precariously replacing a flat tire by the side of the road. As I have a service vehicle, I pulled in behind him and turned on my flashing yellow light bar. When the tire was changed, we placed the flat in his trunk and I was struck by the book clearly visible, "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller.
My brother, Brian, and I have talked about this book on occasion, but I had not managed to get a copy and read it. The man gave me his copy, stating that he gives away copies all the time and would like me to have it for my "samaritan" act. I was very pleased to accept.
Gods' hand is every where, every day. And bless Him we can be part of it, if we are open.
Brian, I look forward to future discussion of your favorite book in the near future, thanks to God and a giving man.
Love to All, Sue.

Sue, I just got back from lunch with a friend and that book came up in our conversation. I think Don (the author) has some great perspectives.

I agree that God has a way of working things out that accomplish His desires.

Thanks for your comments!
